Aaron Chris Manalo is a fourth-year undergraduate student from Vancouver, BC at the University of Alberta pursuing a Bachelor of Science with a double major in Mathematics and Physics. Additionally, he is completing a Certificate in Interdisciplinary Leadership at the Peter Lougheed Leadership College.
He has an extensive background in recreation as a sports instructor and as an ice hockey referee. Most recently, he is a high performance climbing coach with Sport Climbing BC at the Hive. Furthermore, he tutors science subjects at the first-year level. In these capacities, he is interested in adapting learning environments for everyone, including individuals with special needs.
His research interests pertain to medical physics and mathematical biology. He enjoys the multidisciplinary nature of these fields and is fascinated by the creative approaches of math and physics in healthcare related topics.
He was on the City of Richmond’s Child Care Development Advisory Committee and the UofA’s Office of the Registrar Student Advisory Committee. Moreover, he was the President of the UofA Climbing Club.
On October 13, 2023, he was appointed by the Sport Climbing British Columbia's Board of Directors to be the volunteer representative of the organization. Then on November 7, 2023, he was appointed to be the Team BC Manager.
In June of 2023, he signed on to be an Arc'teryx Ambassador at the Richmond Centre location. With this opportunity, he continues to explore the outdoors through climbing, skiing, and other outdoor activities.
Overall, he endeavours to use his passions in science, climbing, and leadership to improve the well-being of his communities.
